Old Wood LLC is able to skillfully manage your international project. We handle complex regulatory matters, obtain best-price shipping and logistics and carefully manage the many details of flooring and other building-products shipments. We have been awarded the USA Presidents Excellence in exporting "E" award.

We’ve managed commercial shipments flooring in quantities of 15 containers or more, wood beams and materials for salt mines in Saudi, Harbors in Dubai and walls and tables in Singapore. We can handle and deliver best pricing on many building materials beyond flooring to include plywood, adhesives, cabinetry and doors and others.

Old Wood LLC is majority owned by a family of world travelers and polyglots. Since our inception, we have looked not only locally for sales but have always considered the world to be an open book of possibilities. We accept the challenges and difficulties associated with global commerce and this sets us apart from virtually all others in our field.
In the 90’s, we worked for Edvard Shevardnadze on his remake of the Tbilisi Bello Rossiya Theater (since destroyed by Russian tank fire!; we’ve produced flooring for the Korean National Theater, Shops in Tokyo and Orlando’s Disneylands, Singapore’s JW Marriot, lobbies in Shanghai, dance flooring in Canada and completed the worlds’ largest mesquite end grain floor in Kuwait’s Ministry of Education. We’ve provided floors in super busy restaurants like Kuala Lumpur’s Acme Restaurant, fabulous Nobu knock-offs around the country and we’ve recently completed work on the Museum of Modern Art in New York as well as that city’s La Guardia Terminal 2 luxury shopping terminal. We have end grain flooring enduring heavy commercial traffic in hotel lobbies and restaurants around the world from arid to beachfront environments.

Old Wood LLC product: 138,000 + square feet of mesquite end grain flooring. 1,242,000 blocks of wood, 2x3”, 2x4”, 3x3”, 3x4” and 4x4”x ½”.

Old Wood LLC received an RFQ for this project in 2015 via email. Not sure it was legitimate, we carefully replied asking some pointed questions about “who”, “what”, “where”, “when”, and “why”. When it became evident that it WAS in fact a legitimate project, and that the quantity of end grain made it probably the largest-ever end grain project in the world, certainly the largest-ever mesquite project, we took it very seriously and within ten days, David and Shiloh got on a plane to Kuwait City where we wrangled our way through three days of serious negotiations in 140 degree heat. It was the hottest June on record in the Gulf. Ultimately, David and MAK’s senior management reached a handshake agreement and we embarked on a three-year long odyssey of international trade, complex documents, and payment schemes we innovated on our own to make the whole thing work. We had help from our governments MEP staff, Mr. Ron Burke, who helped us find a way to get paid via an ‘inspect/pay’ model we created.

Deliveries were via ten, 40’ containers and we shipped wood, coatings, fillers, and adhesives. We hired new 12 persons, built a new packaging facility, and we innovated in many new ways to make a LOT of little square wood blocks.

We returned six months later to begin training crews from Malaysia, Egypt, Africa, and other Muslim countries. We again suffered through heat that touched 150 degrees in the afternoon sun and at the end of that trip, were locked into the project as everyone had gone home for Ramadan’s start, forgetting us in the bowels of the enormous, heat-sink of a project! The project had a major scaffolding fire and the 100 year rain storm came along and flooded huge areas, but in the end, all was well taken care of and we are proud to have worked with them on such a large and significant project. We not only finished the world’s largest ever project, but along the way we completed half a dozen other substantial projects in Singapore, USA, and even Saudi. Done in collaboration with the talented folks at World of Wood Floors, our white oak end grain was chosen for its unique durability, but more importantly, its calming, pleasing, and aesthetic.
