Last week, middle school students from Rio Gallinas School of Ecology and the Arts learned about byproduct entrepreneurship at Old Wood. The group was treated to a dynamic, interactive Mfg Day tour that introduced them to the creation of products such as fire-reclaimed wood flooring and Torchies. Led by Allen Penn, the Firewood Division Manager, and facilitated by owner David Old, the tour included a Q&A segment where students were given certain specs and asked to calculate the capacity of the heat-treating kiln.

What are Torchies, you ask? What we can tell you is that they were a hit with the students! Read about them here.

To see more Old Wood products, including end-grain flooring and paneling, which elevate the lowest grade timber from forest debris to architectural eye candy.

Totally loved the raw honesty and symbolism in the way wood tells its story through nails and scars. It’s kind of the same with people — our "marks" shape who we are. That’s exactly why I appreciated using logopedkab. It helped me uncover and improve parts of myself that I didn’t even realize needed work. Like restoring an old piece of wood, this resource gave me the tools to communicate better, and I genuinely felt supported and understood throughout the process.
